Description: Black and white photograph of people picnicing at Como Park on the day of its official opening - 24 October 1934. Over 7000 people attended. The park was originally swampy land - part of the Como Estate. In the early 1930s, the Myer family gave money to council to pay unemployed men to drain and recontour the land in order to develop it as a park.
