Description: Size: 112 x 157 mm Rain's Reserve (named after Cr. William Rain) at the intersection of Heidelberg Road and Queen's Parade, Clifton Hill, looking west. A gardener in shirt sleeves, waistcoat and hat poses with his lawn mower while a small boy and girl stand stiffly in the central path. An older girl stands in the background. Paths are edged with rocks placed on edge and a rough fence of three strands of wire protects the flower beds. A sign proclaims a By-Law of the City of Collingwood. To the right (the North Fitzroy side of Queen's Parade) is the London Bank of Australia Ltd., a grand three-storey building now housing the A.N.Z. bank. On the left can be seen Turnbull Street, then the shops of A. Westcott, bootmaker (no. 197), A. Bambridge, hay and corn merchant (no. 185), and F.W. Hardy, chemist (no. 167), advertising Hardy's hair renewer. There are two horse-drawn carriages in this section of the street. Further down is a savings bank (no. 97), the Clifton Hill Hotel on the corner of Wellington Street and St. John's Catholic Church.
