Description: Inscription on reverse reads: 'Hopeful anglers in the rain, Hopkins Bridge, Warrnambool'. Despite it being listed on the Victorian Heritage Register in 1997, this historic bridge, built in 1895, was demolished and replaced in 2000/2001 after a two year debate that divided the community. Six spans were retained and put into storage at the direction of the State Government; as of 2004, these are still in inadequate storage at the local airport and have been labelled an 'eyesore' by local council.
