Description: Flags of all nations line the entrance to the Olympic Village, West Heidelberg. Built for the athletes competing in the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Flags of the participating countries were raised as their athletes arrived. On the left is the Olympic Rings symbol; centre is the dining and recreation hall (which later became the Try Society Hall). After the Games, the Village accomodation became government housing.
