Description: A bore was being made to obtain water in order to flood Cherry Lake to overcome the dust problem whilst the Lake was dry. At this stage the bore was 45 feet deep and boring was progessing satisfactorily. Cr. W.L.J. Crofts, Mayor, is in the foreground with David Rees, Engineering Assistant alongside him. Other gentlemen are neighbouring residents, and in the background is the contractor's employee. The bore ultimately went to 450 feet where good quality water was obtained in excess of 20,000 gallons per hour.
