Description: The North Melbourne gas holder, or gasometer, on Macaulay Road, c 1928. The housing at the bottom is in Canning Street, and above that is housing from the rear in Shiel Street. Over the gas holder is the North Melbourne Recreation Reserve and Arden Street Oval. To the left of the Reserve is a swimming pool. The stand at the Oval was demolished in 2007.
