Description: Size: 303 x 407 mm A broad view showing a bent figure working in the market gardens in the foreground, the wool washing works, Nettleton's house and Coppin's brewery. In the open space between Nettleton's house and the works a number of his workers are lined up, obviously aware that they are being photographed, while a few others get on with the job of trundling wool about. Also visible are a factory on the Richmond side of Victoria Street and a large two storey house to the right. As with Nettleton's house, although the address is Victoria Street, the house has a verandah facing in the opposite direction to make the most of the view across the Yarra. The scene has a tranquil semi-rural air but there must have been quite a stench from the wool which would have been added to by Henry Walker's soap and candle works which were just to the east.
