On the left are Mac's Hotel (licensee William Martin) with an advertisement for Carlton Ale on the three-storey facade, Sutton's boot warehouse (in the same building), T. N. Sheehan's drapery, G. Lillie's boot store, Treadway's drapery and Foy and Gibson's emporium. In the street are a cable tram, several bicycles and a variety of carriages and delivery carts.
