      Description:  Size:  235 x 350 mm In the foreground is the yard of the Perry Street police station with a horse and carriage waiting patiently.  Most of the houses which can be seen in Perry Street are small weatherboard constructions with shingle roofs.  There are several peppercorn trees and  poplars.  Beyond Perry Street is an expanse of houses.  In the background is John Wood's Yorkshire Brewery, Thomas Aitken's distillery in Northumberland Street, the Congregational church in Oxford Street (now demolished) and Robert Davis's three storey draper's shop in Smith Street.
