Description: Image held by Fitzroy Library. Looking West:Shop and house, classified as 'good brick' in August 1970. Bought by the Housing Commission 8 December 1970, still tenanted on 31 March 1971; no repair or demolition order. The date of demolitionis unknown. Taken within the block Church Street-Rae Street- Nicholson Street. Targeted by Housing Commission, Victoria for broadscale demolition and construction of highrise apartment blocks. This was opposed by residents, both tenants and owners and factories. This campaign was a turning point in public housing policy and practice in Victoria.
