Description: Image held at Richmond Library. A photograph from the Richmond Guardian newspaper of a group of women and one man posing informally in front of a stack of billies, inside the Richmond Town Hall. The label beneath the photograph reads: 'Richmond women paint and pack billies in Richmond Town Hall. Richmond claims to have sent more soldiers to the Front than any other city in Australia, and the 'billy' movement in the district was notably successful. Over a thousand billies were sold and filled in six days, and the donations from other citizens enabled the committee to buy 250 more billies and fill them from the funds.'
