Description: Image held at Richmond Library. Two photograhs illustrating road construction in 1941 in the Richmond Housing Estate and the completed street in 1943. The housing estate was built in 1938-39 on the site of the former Richmond racecourse. The caption of the two photographs reads: 'Richmond Housing Estate'. The label underneath the upper image reads: 'Road Construction Work, 1941'. Handwritten underneath this label is: 'On the site of the old Richmond racecourse'. The label underneath the bottom image reads: 'Completion of Road Construction, 1943'. These photographs also appear in the City of Richmond Report of the Council, 1943-44.
