Description: Image held at Richmond Library. In the photograph a gripman is bending over close to the road, possibly making adjustments to the cable. The driver (gripman) operated the gripper which allowed the tram to move. For further information refer to John D. Keating's 'Mind the Curve' and to Jack Cranston's 'The Melbourne Cable Trams 1885-1940'.
