Description: Image held at Richmond Library.	Three rows of girls are seated, kneeling and standing on one side of the swimming pool. The seated girls have their feet in the water. When the Richmond Baths opened in 1897 they were the largest in Victoria and among the finest, and Richmond acquired a reputation as one of theswimming centres of Victoria. The main reason the Council built the baths was concern at the number of people who drowned in the river. Swimming was segregated.
