Description: Image held at Richmond Library. This picture shows 'General Voyage', driven, trained and owned by N. Hueston, crossing the finishing line on the 8th of August 1927. A large crowd is in attendance. The buildings of Richmond, along with the chimney of the Wertheim piano factory (now the Channel 9 building) are visible in the background. The Richmond Racecourse, run by John Wren's Victorian Trotting and Racing Association, was situated where Tudor St is now. In 1941 it was turned into Richmond's first public housing estate. The label beneath the image reads: 'Richmond, 8/8/27 Trotter's Handicap Won by 'General Voyage' Owner, Trainer & Driver N Hueston.' There are several stains underneath the photograph.
